Exercise #1, blog bling

My video is Tomie DePaola, a famous children's author.  He talks about why reading is important.  I love  his answer.  Watch to find out what he says!

  1. I LOVE this video! You should show this to your students and then maybe read them a short picture book. We are never to old to be read to-- even picture books!

  2. As a kid, you have such a vibrant, creative imagination. Your mind explores the world and what it will be like in the future. I loved his line: "If you can read, you can learn anything about everything, and everything about anything."

  3. I love short books you have back by your office in the library. I use them a lot for articulation practice, because we can get through them quicker than a chapter book. All grades seem to really like to read them too. I used to love reading when I was a kid. In middle and High school was not crazy about it. I don't think it was until after I was finished with graduate school when I finally picked up a book that I was interested, without someone telling me I had to read, or what I had to read, and read just because it was interesting to me. Now I always have a book that I'm in the middle of reading.
